About Us

How it all began....

Jo Rowe, Author of Woof of the Woo had been staying in La Cala de Mijas, a few miles from Fuengirola, on the Costa del Sol, Spain on a two month working holiday. She gave up some of her free time to be a volunteer working at the nearby ACE Refugio.
William’s tale : he had been abandoned, was living on the streets and like other strays was rounded up by the local authorities and incarcerated in a PERRERA  (killing Station).  But thanks to the ACE Refugio La Cala de Mijas,  ‘William’ was rescued from a grisly fate.

Love at first sight : One morning, in a group of new arrivals was a small timid black puppy.  Their bond wasn’t instant, as the nervous and shy creature would often run and hide.  Over many days and weeks Jo helped William become used to human contact and gained both his trust and affection.  “I’m bringing him home” she told her husband.  He too was delighted, as they had recently decided that a dog would be a splendid addition to their ‘family’ which already included three cats.
Joanne and family moved to the Cotswolds in July 2016  where Jo continues to write the series of Woo of the Woo.
